Abstract

This paper brings a didactic intention, and for the author it operates as a tool of clinical work. However, it also brings to light part of C. G. Jung's world view in his gaze at human psyche. This occurs in the conceptualization of subjectivity and its relationship with reality. To achieve this, the role of instinct was highlighted; and the role of affects; the drive to activity, to creativity and reflection; the drive to the attribution of meaning; and finally, the drive to individuation in the confrontation of collective forces that inhabit human psyche. For Jung, the only human experience of reality is their subjective experience, and if it is not possible to define psyche or its dynamic expression – psychic energy –, the ultimate nature of life is also unknown to us, in the biological sense, and of matter and energy in the physical sense. For the human being, the psyche is the very notion of existence.
